Norwich flu clinics get off to a flying start

Old Catton Medical Practice got the flu vaccination season off to a flying start on Friday by vaccinating over 500 people.

Christina Easter, Assistant Practice Manager said “It’s been a really positive afternoon, not only have we given over 500 flu vaccines, we have also given pneumonia vaccines, done blood pressure readings, booked patients for their chronic disease checks, booked overdue smear tests and given patients information on how to access their overdue breast and bowel screening.

Christina added “Our new GP, Dr Adebayo, had a really busy day seeing so many people in one afternoon – he was wonderful! All in all, it went smoothly, there wasn’t any build up in the queues and we were able to process everyone quickly.

Comments from patients included ‘It’s like a military operation’ and ‘Thank you for everything you are doing’. I think they really appreciated the ‘One stop shop’ with us trying to do as much as possible at the same time.

Over the coming weeks surgeries will be contacting their patients and inviting them to book to have a flu vaccination. Invitations will be sent either by text, email or by phone. Some patients who are not online will be contacted by letter and invited to make an appointment.

Patients are reminded to keep their appointments to ensure protection against flu throughout the winter.
