Dr Jeanine Smirl MBBS DCH DRCOG
Jeanine trained in London and has been a GP since 1991. She
has been an educator and trainer since 1994. She is a GP partner at St Stephens
Gate Medical Practice and the managing director of N2S which provides NHS day
surgery at St Stephens Gate. She has worked as a clinical adviser for Norfolk
and Waveney CCG (Now ICS) since 2016 with a special interest in out of hospital
care and population health management. Since the creation of the new Norfolk
and Waveney Integrated Care System (ICS) Jeanine has been appointed as Primary
Care representative and chair for the Norwich Place Board. She is the clinical
director of Norwich PCN with a population of circa 240,000 and a director of
OneNorwich Practices Ltd.
During the pandemic she participated in a large-scale
digital population health effort as clinical lead. The project was led by PSL and the NHS
Norfolk and Waveney CCG and known as “Covid Protect” it supported the
vulnerable shielded population. Shortlisted for six national awards in 2021 and
winning at both the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards and the General
Practice Awards, this is an achievement Jeanine is rightly very proud of. The
success of the project has led to a host of similar large scale population
health projects under the banner of “Protect NoW” across Norfolk and Waveney.
In 2021 Dr Smirl was also nominated as GP of the year at the GP Practice Awards.
